Notes
Internet Explorer versions are about 60% IE 6 and 40% IE 7.
- IE 6 usage is decreasing very slowly. Appears to be here to stay.
Firefox 1.x usage dropped off dramatically in July 2007
For what it is worth, Safari users spend 3x longer browsing the site than Firefox or IE users.
Jesper asked for the feed reader client shares so here they are:
|Feed Client|Share|
|–––—|–—|
|Google Reader|27.89%|
|NewsGator Online|24.62%|
|Bloglines|14.76%|
|NetNewsWire|14.03%|
|MagpieRSS|8.27%|
|Rome|3.55%|
|Universal Feed Parser|2.24%|
|Other|1.75%|
|Vienna|1.03%|
|Safari RSS|0.83%|
|NewsFire|0.55%|
|FeedDemon|0.48%|
Thought NetNewsWire might be a bit higher.
Update:
Greg Reinacker, NewsGator’s CTO, confirmed my suspicions via email that some of NetNewsWire’s numbers are bundled into the NewsGator Online stats:
When NNW is operating in sync mode, it will be reported in the “NewsGator Online” bucket…this is because NNW will actually retrieve content from NG/Online, rather than retrieving your feed directly. So in your stats, NNW could be as high as 38.65% (which is NNW + NG/Online together). It’s likely somewhere in the middle.
Kudos to Greg for working on Superbowl Sunday, which is effectively a national US holiday. Greg also followed up on his email with a blog entry of his own describing the situation.
|Operating System|Share|
|–––––-|–—|
|Windows|53.91%|
|Macintosh|35.15%|
|Linux|10.25%|
|Other|0.70%|
Included in ‘Other’ is a very small portion of iPhone & iPod touch users and I’m not surprised they aren’t visiting in droves.
Parting Thoughts
Only 2% of my visitors didn’t have some version of Flash installed. Given a healthy Linux share that’s kinda of surprising. I’d say a majority of Linux users are opting in to installing Adobe Flash and a large number of folks have installed Flash 9 - probably because it vastly improves YouTube performance.
